2009 SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS

WELP! Its been a great summer =) I have been having a BLAST and dont want it to end. Although its coming to a close, I vow to keep this mindframe of working hard and playing hard. Here are 10 of my top favorite moments that happened in the past 2 1/2 months.

KEEP GOiNG

So I get a text in the middle of the night. [A RANDOM text at that] And it reads, "MAN! That motherfucker Amir Diamond can ACK!...act 3 of the skin of our teeth" The Skin of Our Teeth was one of my first college theater shows. I think I got the role from performing this very intense scene (that took place in act 3) and nailing it in auditions.

To be perfectly honest, I'm good...but im not that GREAT...and I'm forever working to get to that point. My goal is always to outdo myself and be a better actor. I never work to be better than anybody else. I work to be better than myself. I work to grow as a better person and a better actor. That is my mission in life. Acting is the hardest profession in the world.

My highschool director, Mr. Manley, used to tell us that it's harder than football! lol. And when you think about it...hes kind of right! Not everybody can get in front of 100s or thousands of people and wear costumes of emotions on their sleeves. Some people can't memorize lines...let alone blocking. Some people will let their personal conflictions interfere with what they do on stage and that CANT happen! The show must go on!!!

There are days when you don't know if your best is enough...But then there are moments when people text you out of the blue telling you how good you are....come up and tell you that CLOPIN was their favorite character....remember you from when you played [ROMEO]&Juliet...or laughed at you when you played Chris. One of my best memories was DAVID KEATON. People were telling me that they got chills. One girl said she related with me so much because my character had a drug addiction. I made a few people CRY!!!!

No awards can ever reach up or be equivalent to any praise I get from the audience members. If I ever entertained you. Made you Laugh, Cry, Hurt or Smile and you enjoyed it, then I did my job. YOU are the ones who keep me going. Seriously. I love you so much. Thanks for all the support. You mean ALOT to me.

So This summer I had the opportunity to go see America's Got Talent live with my homeboy Tito. Alot of the talent that was at OUR filming was...lets just say "interesting." Anyway, heres one of my favorites from this season. Everytime I watched it, I either get chills or cry. lol. I cant help it. Its just amazing how everybody judged this guy until he started playing...you can tell that there was alot of hurt behind his performance. I love this guy. Good Luck Kev! You have my vote man.

Mosque #45

Last night was freekin awesome! Im STILL amaed at how much fun I had....anyway, woke up early this morning to visit Mosque #45 on OST and watched the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan speak on The Crucifixion of Michael Jackson. It was a really good sermon. I enjoyed it and agreed with some of the ideas...but not all. Wont go into depth about it but you can order a copy offline if you are interested. My uncle is a smart man...i'm telling you!

Men, Money & Goldiggers Pt1

So I had auditions for this movie today. There was over 1000 people there today! I was number 23 =) MY LUCKY NUMBER!!!! Well see if its so LUCKY soon tho lol. I have no idea how callbacks are going to work or any of that> I'll let you know if anything happens. Its in Gods hands.

UGH! Had madd madd madd madd madd madd madd fun tonight! Took a roadtrip to Willowbrook with Amber & Rashid! Went to Joe's Crab Shack and Mountasia (So I could whoop Amber racing real quick lol). I don't know what it was but we always have a good time! Much love to both of these LOSERS!!! ;]

THE POWER IN THE WORD

(sigh of relief) SE7ENs setup was like a breath of fresh air....naw naw naw it WAS a breath of fresh air. Breath of fresh air, fresh water, and food. And its no wonder why he held it at the bread of life...St. John's Church. It was my first time visiting and I am definately going to be taking a trip out there for service sometime soon. They started the concert with Liz Vaughn and the choir singing Mary J. Blige "Just Fine" and it really got the crowd pumped! I can't even began to tell you how energetic the atmosphere was. This album "The Power In The Word" was about bringing this whole world together. A LOVE Revolution, so to speak. He had poems about Old Skool Mamas, Poems about Stepfathers who STEP up to the plate. He had poems about our children, Poems about not rolling your window up on the homeless because there's going to be a day when you get to the gates and God might roll that window up on you! There was THE JESUS PEACE...Literally! It brought. the house. down! We started chanting ENCORE, so SE7EN came out and did a piece called "Stand Up." By the end of this show I was crying, crying, crying...like a little girl! It was an oVERwhelming experience! SE7EN is the man!!!! He has been one of my inspirations for the longest! He has an amazing gift and talent and is someone that I am truly proud of. I am honored to say that this man is a great role model and I thank God for giving life to him. I learned alot tonight and I am EXTREMELY grateful. Peace. Love. &Blessings =)

To be perfectly honest: nothing can replace the ppl we ONCE loved. We try to fill voids and find understudies (another cast, if you will). But it doesn't quite work out that way. The original actors and actresses develop egos that are out of this world. And some even demand to have bigger roles. They are never satisfied with playing their part. And quite frankly, it was actually the character you USED to be, that captured the hearts of audiences everywhere. -Dashing

So one of my friends from high school, Taylor Bailey, is trying out for America's Next Top Model. She's 19 years old and following her dreams to become the next big thing. I REALLY believe and have alot of faith in her. I looked at some of the other talent, and even if I didn't know her, I would have voted for her. But we need your help. Last night, I went to go see a great show called "Writing Out Loud" by Harry Kelly (Directed by Lorenzo B.). This wasnt an ordinary show. It all took placed in a theater squeezed between the walls on a condominium. It was a creative way to put on a show and it showed the dedication that alot of talented actors, directors, and writers have. Everything that they do comes out of their pockets, so to see one of their shows they just ask for donations (Whatever you have is greatly appreciated it). A Dashing Day

Right now Im listening to Pretty Wings. The computer is hidden behind a couple beds, mattresses, piles of clothes, boxes and shoes lol. Had to clear everything out of the rooms cuz WERE GETTING NEW CARPETS! (Chocholate-covered to match my Brown Sugar themed-room) Cant wait to show yall pics! Anyway, yeah, the dudes just got here so they kicked me out of my room lol. I was in the middle of watching Wendy too! DAMN!

But yeah....bout to replace some of my songs on my ipod that sound horrible. I have a few (out of my 2,269 songs) that just stop in the middle or sound quality is very poor. So ima hop on that. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY Anticipated album from one of the greatest voices of all time: Whitney Houston. It's been a long time coming and Whitney's back to do it again. I just listened to the first single "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and it is AMAZING. It was written by the very talented Diane Warren. On this album, she has also worked with Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Danja, Johnta Austin, and of course the legendary Clive Davis. Last year, I had the privilege of hearing a sneak peak of a song called "Like I Never Left" feat. Akon and THAT song is wassup. Im in love with it. Its been almost a year and I still jam it. I also heard R. Kelly sing the title song "I Look to You" that he wrote for Ms. Houston and it is beautiful. I cant wait to hear how Whitney did it. I am so ampd for this album...you dont even understand! The media has so much to say about this icon, but noone can argue that her voice says it all. Go with me in the stores and rack up on this cd SEPTEMBER 1ST people! Remember the Date! See you in line ;)

ITS HOT IN HERE!! (SUMMER FUN PT 2)

So yall know about the Ensemble Theater (Official Castlistings will be next week so ill letchu know...Ive got my fingers crossed!). I told yall about Kayaking. But there's been alot of other fun, exciting stuff going down...like having the opportunity to be in the audience for a live taping of NBC's Americas Got Talent. That was crazy fun! I also went to surprise my No. 1 Aunt Shakira for her graduation from UMassBoston. I went for 10 days and didn't want to leave. Shoutouts to my favorite little cuzins Mikal & Ollin. I love and miss you!!! Ill be back Christmas =).

I also wanna say wassup to one of my new best friends: Darren!! Dude's coool. We are like exactly alike. I guess you can say were twins. Thats basically my brother. Scratch dat...that IS my brother. RealTalk. I also went to see Tony Toni Tone in concert. CLASSIC GROUP. He had his son and his godson do a little something on the keyboard and the drums: those kids were AMAZING! 12 years old, playing like professionals. They had so much talent...it gave me chills. I also got to see one of my FAVORITE artists perform: THE-DREAM!!!!!! So now, I can say that I've seen all of my favorites live in concert (The-Dream, Kanye West, Chris Brown & Beyonce).

Last month, I worked the Summer Youth Enrichment Program and had a blast as usual...I LOVE kids. This weekend I am going to support a fellow actor at his show "Writing Out Loud," and NEXT Weekend I'm hitting up the movies with one of my old time homeboys I've recently reconnected with and a couple other friends. We lost contact and haven't seen each other in years!! Ironically, he was working at the camp I work at. So that was cool. Dude is FAMILY to me. SERIOUSLY. But yupp, as you can see...its been a busy one. But uhhhhhm...this large Pepsi that I just finished drinking...its putting my body to work...gotta go drain the lizard....be back later! lol

LMAO. THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME! Wendy Williams is a NY Radio Talk Show Host who has been making headlines since before I was even born. Wendy went to school at Northeastern University in Boston, MA with my mother (The Only Candy Mom Wants You To Have). Wendy has finally made her mark onto television sets everywhere on her new daytime talk show The Wendy Williams Show. I have fallen in love with Wendy, her show and her interviews over the years. When she debuted her tv show, I was extremely happy for her. She made me want to pursue my dreams and just continue to work hard. Check your local listenings for The Wendy Williams Show everyday on Fox. You can also watch repeats late night on BET. And if you cant get enough of her, listen to her live on WBLS from 1pm-5pm central. Oh yeah and I forgot...How You Doin? lol

SUMMER FUN!

DAMN...DAMN....DAMN!!!!!

IT HAS BEEN A BLAST! LET ME TELL YOU! I HAVE REALLY BEEN HAVING SO MUCH FUN LIKE FOR REAL. I HAVENT REALLY BEEN ON MY GRIND WITH BLOGGING CUZ IVE BEEN HELLA BUSY! BUT LETS CATCH UP A LITTLE. WAIT...WHY AM I TYPING IN CAPS? LOL. Aight, Now! We've got so much to discuss. But I know this generation doesn't like to read nowadays. Well...some of us do. Lets not be too hasty. ANYWAY!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT SO FAR: GOING KAYAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yoooooo crazyness. That was one of the most amazing things I have done in my life. Too bad we didnt take pics =(. But yeah, at the beginning of the summer, I went on a lil weekend roadtrip to Austin, Texas with Tito & Servando. So here's the thing: We went for Servando's Jui-Jitsu tournament and afterwards, they decided they wanted to go kayaking. I was ify about the whole thing...then when I got there and saw that HUGE body of water I said HELL NO! THERES NO WAY! I really got pissed. It turned into a freekin argument. They can swim. I CANT!!! Theres a difference. If something happens to where they fall out....its okay. But If I do...theres nothing I can do to protect myself. So I'm arguing with Tito in 100degree weather and he really wanted me to go so eventually I sucked it up, took a 5minute breather and had an attitude for the remainder of the day. I RARELY get mad....but you should have seen me that day. MAN! But as I got in, it actually wasnt that bad. It was very relaxing. I had a lot of fun (but i didnt want them to know that hahahaha). But yeah, I told Tito I was sorry. BUT honestly, Its hard to do something that you are afraid of. I'm just glad that I have friends who made me comfortable enough to help and encourage me to finally face my fears =D

Shining Star is going to be a new segment where I introduce to you, someone that you really should make way for. Today, I'm talking about JEREMIH! When I heard this kid's first single "Birthday Sex", I wasn't really feeling it (just because of the fact that everyone was on his tip). I didnt wanna go off of other peoples hype. So eventually, the song got stuck in my head and 4th of july weekend it was on sale @ TARGET for $6.98 so I got it. and Yes, I shop at target. lol. Its my favorite store actually lol. My aunt Shakira got me hooked =) hahahahahaha. But anyway, popped that cd in and it is amazing!!! Songs you need to check out: Raindrops. My Sunshine. Buh Bye. But my FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITES are Starting All Over & Break Up To Make Up. Starting All Over is just a real heartfelt song. It makes you believe that you can really start over with someone else whos gonna be a better person for you. It gives you hope to find love. Break Up to make Up is just a real dope ass feel good song. I mean as soon as the beat kicks in...its awesome! But yeah, please support this artist. He's amazing. Go buy his cd. Its well worth. Actor Extroidanaire

YOOOOOOOO THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!! Like crazy crazy crazy. I was just going to change my post on facebook but i realized that this is BLOGSPOT Material!!!!

So earlier today, I had an audition for the 2009-2010 Season for The Ensemble Theater (downtown Houston, TX). I had a solid audition that made some of the 5 or 6 directors laugh. I was all good until....THEY MADE ME S I N G lmao. I was so nervous and not prepared for a singing audition, but they let me go outside for 5 minutes, come back and sing ANYTHING. So I came back and sung "One Song Glory" from Rent...and one of the directors stopped me!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh talk about scarin tha ba-jesus out of me! I'm already not a confident singer! He told me to sing something else. Something on the radio. Something R&B. So off the top of my head, without hesitation, I just bust out into this Jagged Edge song "Whats It Like." A couple of them told me straight up that it was a better song choice. And when I went back into the lobby, a girl was clapping for me, and another girl asked me 'what song was that because it sounded familiar'

So anyway, this whole time I've been telling my friends how scared I was about the results. Weird thing is...6 hours later...my fone rings saying i got a call for "Five Guys Named Moe." I was so ampd! Its actually a play that requires singing and dancing abilities. I checked out the music just now, and it seems like a very fun show.

I decided to call them back to ask if i needed to bring anything to the callback and they said nope, but they also told me that i got called back for "Stick Fly" also. Talk about a sigh of relief!!!! I felt like I nailed that audition. Ive been calling and texting people left and right. But this is where the magic comes in: i JUST recieved a call saying that I got called back for the role of Jr. in "Christmas with Great Aunt" (wipes sweat off my forehead). THATS 3 SHOWS!!!!! Pray for me yall. This is going to be bananas...And im EXTREMELY excited!!!

So check it. Now that Chris Brown is a fuckin a wrap....Im startin to realize that Trey Songz is READY to take that spot. Trey Songz is a wayyyyyyyyy better artist than Chris Breezy. Trey has songz for days. His first album was crazy. His second album was bananas. And his junior album is gonna show the world that hes not playing games. EVERY joint I hear by this dude can pass for classic. He's our generations R. Kelly. The only thing you can say Chris has on "The SongBook Baby" is moves. Trey doesn't dance, which is probably the reason why people are sleeping on him. But his voice is unique, and his lyrics are genuis. I promise you...yall better get READY. Literally.

FINALLY,

FINALS ARE OVER!! Oh my godde yo its been a hectic semester. I definately had a load and a half: Five Classes, work, three theater shows, and an internship with ImReadyProductions. I was getting home at midnite and waking up at 6 in the morning to do it all over again, day after day. Not to mention, studying, showering, and eating. But yeah, I managed to do great in all of my classes.

When I was going through my shit last year, and couldn't take as many classes as I wanted, I was at the center of the laughing stock in my family. Now I just want to take this oppurtunity to say SUCK IT! I feel like cussing you the fuck out right now, but I'm good on that...Ill just keep proving you wrong instead =D

Aight Aight Aight...I gotta admit, I have been a sidekick fan since the beginning of time. Ive gone through the Sidekick 3, Sidekick ID, and Sidekick LX. (I think its cuz I have a serious texting addiction). I absolutely refuse to go back to a regular phone and punch the #7 key four times just to get to the letter "S" lol. ITS CALLED A CELLULAR FONE FOR A REASON PEOPLE...ITS NOT A LANDLINE FOR CHRISTS SAKE! [clears throat] Sorry. lol. that was kind of rude of me to you non-qwerty-keyboard-cell-fone-users. I apologize. ANYWAY so yeah, my kick has recently been GOING THREW ITS CYCLE (so to speak). I would like to blame it on tmobile, but to be honest, I have dropped it so many times...im suprised its lasted this long! I had madd funn Sunday night. First, we went to HardRockCafe downtown Houston and grubbed. Oh yeah, and we went on the right night too because they had 4 rock groups performing in the actual restauraunt. It was soooo dope and my burger was delicious. Then afterwards we went to go see JD Lawrence's The Clean Up Woman starring Telma Hopkins [Family Matters, Half&Half] and Jackee Harry [Sister Sister, 227]; It was freekin hilarious yo...Like for real. I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend my time with a good friend. I havent been out on a one on one since the last girl who broke my heart. Cry you a river, build me a bridge, and get over it right? ANYWAY this was well worth it! Hadda super duper time. But yeah, this is all yall are gonna get out of me.

RiGHT SiDE OF MY BRAiN

The-Dream's sophomore album is so tight! You have to pick it up when you get a chance. That means go out to BestBuy or Target (or even iTUNES) and purchase it. NO DOWNLOADING! I promise you its well-worth the money. It seems like I always have one of the songs stuck in my head. For the past few days it's been The Right Side of My Brain. I played it atleast 20 times in a row today, and havent got sick of it yet. No lie. But theres like a gazillion jams on "Love vs. Money" so go cop it. His freshman cd "Love vs. Hate" is bomb too. The-Dream is definately the future R&B icon to look out for. If you aren't jamming his music, then you are definately missing out.

TAKiNG THE STAGE

I normally dont get a chance to watch TV during the week, so the weekends are my days to sleep, relax and watch a little boob tube (If you know what i mean lmfao). But yeah, so I watch all the shows that I set my DVR to record during the week, sip some juice, grab me a snack, and im good! I watch Making The Band, The Real World, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I Love Money, Chelsea Lately and those judge shows! I dont care what noone says Divorce Court is madd good lol. I recently started watching MTV's Taking The Stage. Like all other reality-type shows, it seems a little bit scripted, but who cares; I like it! Its about five performing arts students and their friends as they try to make a career in entertainment. Check it: Every Thursday on MTV 10pm/9pm central.

I had the scariest bad dream last night. So basically I was at home and heard people screaming, so I go look out my window and all these houses are on fire. Theres about four firemen tryna put it out and every six seconds the fire EXPLODES, grows bigger, blows everybody away and gets closer to my house. I knew I was about to be next so I ran back to my bed clenched my pillow, closed my eyes tight and prepared myself for impact. 6...5...4...3...2....1....I FELT IT! THIS LOUDD BLAST/BOOM-LIKE SOUND. It was weird how it worked out. Cuz the sound I thought was the explosion (in my dream), was actually my mom lifting up the garage...in real life lol. She had just got back home from work. hahahaha. But yeah, talk about s c a r y .
